| When is the best time to dive in Colombo? Can I dive all year round? We wish we could but the season only runs from October to April. The best time to dive in Colombo is February and March. What can I see underwater ? The major marine habitats are rocky reefs and patch reefs. In addition there are several excellent wrecks. Marine life is diverse and some offshore reefs have very healthy coral growth. You will see the regular Indian Ocean reef fish and while large pelagics are not common, eagle rays, stingrays, dogtooth tuna and Spanish mackeral are frequently seen at some sites. How good is the visibility? Average visibility on the inshore reefs is 10-15m. Offshore visibility averages around 20m. On some outer reefs visibility is often around 30m. What is the level of diving difficulty? Many of our best dive sites are relatively deep (>18) and therefore ideally suited for slightly more experienced divers. However we do have shallower sites. We will match you with a site that suits your certification and/or experience level. Can I learn to dive in Colombo? Yes. You can try Scuba Diving for the first time with our Discover Scuba Diving Program or you can take on of our PADI courses . At what time do you start your dives? Standard 2 tank dive trips usually leave at 9:00am and return by around 1:00pm. We may leave earlier and/or return later when diving some sites further away. Single tank early morning dives and night dives can be arranged. We are flexible. Just ask. Do you organize diving outside of Colombo? We can organize personalized special interest dive trips around Sri Lanka, and also provide diving support for researchers and film crews. We also offer boat charters and trips in the Maldives. Do I need to make a reservation? A reservation is recommended so that we can provide you with better service and also notify you in case of a dive being cancelled. Prior notice is required for special trips and courses. Can I pay in foreign currency or using a credit card? You can pay in either US$ or Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR). Sorry but we don't accept credit cards at this time. How can I get more info or make a reservation? Call us or email us with you're questions, reservation or stories any time! |
