We are a group of divers with a passion (you might say an obsession) for diving and a love for Sri Lanka. Our team has experience in wreck exploration, technical diving, underwater photography and marine research, with extensive diving experience in Colombo, Negombo and around Sri Lanka.

Colombo Divers is a natural evolution in our passion for diving. We are not a large dive center and we do not aspire to be one. As avid divers ourselves we enjoy exploring new frontiers and diving away from crowds. We like to be honest with our customers and build realistic expectations rather than leave divers disappointed with false promises. Our philosophy is to share our passion for diving with others and while we believe that any diving is better than working or most other things you could be doing, we also believe in providing you with the best experience possible. We want Colombo Divers to be a place that you can walk into and become part of the team, because we believe that the best diving is done with people you like and enjoy spending time with.

We are also committed to marine conservation and responsible diving. As individuals, we are actively involved in wildlife conservation in Sri Lanka both professionally and voluntarily. We hope to continue this with Colombo Divers and plan to establish a long-term reef monitoring program in Colombo and assist in protecting local reefs through research and education involving recreational divers and the local community. We welcome ideas and support for marine conservation and are always open for volunteers to help out in surveys and awareness work.

Our dive center assistant

Born in the city of gems, the famed city of Ratnapura, Upul is a man with many talents. He plays a pivotal role ensuring everything is at the right place and the correct time for divers to have a fantastic dive experience. Seemingly quiet and shy but a tireless worker he is a pleasant face at the dive center winning the hearts of all colleagues and customers.

He is the man who will take you safely to the dive sites. A very experienced boatman with thousands of hours of day and night time sailing experience Ravinda is at home in a boat during any type weather be it calm flat seas to rough monsoon like conditions in pitch blackness of the night. Haling from the coastal city of Dehiwela he knows the sea off colombo like the back of his palm. You can count on him to keep a sharp eye on your bubbles until you surface and then it will also be Ravinda who will help you back into the boat.

Owner and dive guide - Ajith

Hopelessly addicted to Nitrogen (Scuba Board: N2Addict) Ajith is a fanatical diver seeking every opportunity to escape his corporate job where he is forced to wear a tie, surgically implant two phones in his ear and pretend to be busy (while scheduling dive trips with friends). A mechanical engineer by education yet a scion in the financial industry in Sri Lanka Ajith is a PADI Dive Master and a TDI Gas Blender with over eight years of diving experience in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Indonesia, Philippines and Australia. Ajith is also an avid underwater photographer. Once in a while he gets into a catatonic trance and refuses to ascend to the surface; at which point he has to be dragged to the boat by bouncers, and hoisted into it with a crane kicking and screaming. Underwater, he adorns a look of permanent state of panic and he claims that its a problem with his diving mask.

Owner and dive guide - Dharshana

A reluctant diver who dives at every opportunity Dharshana is a PADI Rescue Diver, PSAI Solo Diver and a DSAT Tec Deep Diver with over seven years diving experience in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Micronesia and Great Barrier Reef Australia. With over 800 logged dives he is an underwater photographer and videographer. Dharshana is also the founder & editor of www.DiveSriLanka.com - the one stop guide to Scuba Diving in Sri Lanka and a regular contributor to magazines and dive books. A full time software engineer by profession he gets most of his bright ideas for software engineering underwater. His software always has a few bugs but is still very fishy. He has an annoying tendency to get lost while engaged in underwater photography and has to be leashed to the boat using Celine's leash (See below). However he claims to be one of the best buddy divers in the world. His camera agrees.

Ferocious Dive Center Guard Dog feared by none - Celine

Colombo Divers mascot Celine is a carefully bred indigenous common mongrel puppy especially groomed for dive center service (She just showed up at the dive center on the very day it was opened). She plays a vital role playing with the customers and also disappearing for prolonged periods of time with her shady beach side dog friends. This could be because her leash is missing. She is currently training for PADI Dive Center dog certification but still mustering courage for the first pool session.
